Which details are sent to YNAB?
Each receipt becomes one transaction with the date, the amount as an outflow, the payee name and the memo “Export Spendify”. It is created in the account you chose, marked as cleared and approved.
Photograph a receipt, check what was read, and send it to YNAB as a transaction.
Your categories stay exactly where you left them.
For people who budget in YNAB and are tired of typing in cash receipts.
Take a photo or upload an image. Spendify reads the date, merchant and total.
OCR is not perfect, so you check the result and fix anything that is wrong.
Choose the receipts to send. Each one becomes a transaction in the account you picked.
Every receipt becomes one transaction with:
No category is sent. You assign categories in YNAB, as you already do.
Spendify never overwrites categories in YNAB. Transactions arrive without one, so your budget, your rules and your category habits stay in YNAB.
Categories you set inside Spendify are for your own organisation only. They are never sent to YNAB.
In Settings, choose “Connect YNAB”, sign in on YNAB’s own site and approve access. Then pick the plan and the account receipts should go to from a list. There is no token to create and no ID to copy.
Spendify never sees your YNAB password. Your access is stored encrypted and used only to list your plans and accounts and to create the transactions you select. You can disconnect at any time from Settings. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Spendify remembers which receipts you have already sent and leaves them out of the next YNAB export. You can also pick receipts one by one, or filter by date.
One limit to know about: Spendify does not read your existing YNAB transactions, so it cannot tell if a purchase was already imported from your bank.
